Stainland Lions Road Grand Prix Rules

Basically, it works like this;

Divisions will be formed based on ability. The number of divisions will be dependant on the number wishing to take part, but ideally something like 3 divisions of about 15 runners. Division 1 will consist of the clubs faster ‘Racing Snakes’, Division 2 the intermediates and Division 3, the rest of us ‘Velocity Challenged’ lot.

A selection of popular club races of varying distances will be chosen by the club before the start of the year. i.e. The Brass Monkey Half Marathon, Dent, Wakefield 10k etc.

The first runner to finish in their division would receive maximum points for that particular division, i.e If there were 15 runners in a division, the first runner to finish the race, in his division, would get 15 points, the second 14 points etc.

At the end of the year, a runners worst two results of the selected races would be dropped, and a points total based on the remaining best race points calculated. The runner with the most points in their division would win that division.

Promotion and relegation between Divisions will be at the Clubs discretion as it would be unfair to promote a runner into a division in which they could not compete with reasonable success, conversely it would not be fair to relegate a runner down to a division in which they would be a clear division winner the following year as this could de-motivate the runners in that division. Therefore promotion and relegation between the Divisions will not be automatic, but based upon the competitive levels between the divisions, and the runners ability to compete at a comparable level as other runners in the new Division, as deemed by the Club.

Entry into the Grand Prix is free and is open to all fully paid up members of the Stainland Lions RR.

All Grand Prix participants are responsible for organizing their own race entries into the selected events.

All Grand Prix participants must compete in the selected races, under their own name for the result to be included in their Grand Prix points total. No points will be awarded as a result of the use of a race number, entered under another runners name. (So make sure you get your race entries sorted out early!)

Points will be awarded for completed races only, and the race organizers official results list will provide the source of the final point allocation for each event.
